About Our Churches
St. Margaret's & St. Mary Magdalene
St. Margaret's Anglican Church is located in Nicholl's Town, the capital of Andros. The church dates back over more than 100 years and is said to have been built by Fr. Sweeting, one of the first black Bahamian priests.
The church is located on the seaside and is one of the landmarks of the community.
St. Mary Magdalene Anglican Church is located in Mastic Point, on the former Chamberlain Sisal Estate (owned by former British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain).
According to senior church members, St. Mary Magdalene also dates back more than 100 years and the original building, which was located further inland, was destroyed by a catastrophic hurricane in the mid 1800s. The current structure was then built on land left to the church by the Chamberlain Estate.
